Review:Evernight by Claudia Gray

Review of Evernight by Claudia Gray

Sometimes by reviews have stories to go a long with them. This book definetly does. A few months ago, I heard about this book and I was interested-I mean, I love vampire books as you all know, and any new vamp material is good material. As time built up to me actually reading this book I had found that my expectations of it rose as well. Now, I have learned from expierence that having high expectations equals huge let down(I am looking at you Phantom Menace), so when I finally started reading it, I tried to prepare myself for it not being what I imagined

I didn't need to.

This is the first book I have ever read that has ever "lived up to" what I imagined it to be in my head. Of course, many you simpathize with the" it sounded good on the back cover" syndrome-I do too. Many books just don't turn how you imagined them originally in your head. Not that these books are bad but sometimes they just aren't what you saw or wanted out of the book.
Evernight, however, suprassed all of my expectations of the book. It seriously was the best book I read this year so far. One of the best debutes I have ever seen from an author, Ms. Gray makes it seem like she has written numerous teen novels. Now, I will have to re-read it like 5 times before it can be considered but I think I may have a new favorite series to watch out for.

Onto the novel itself, It's about Biana a girl attending Evernight because her parents teach there. She decides to run away to prove a point when she runs into( or away from) Lucas- a fellow student. Sparks fly and before you know it, Biana is pulled into a love story with twists and turns that have a Romeo and Juliet-esque feel to them

The characters themselves are quite interesting. You of course sympathize with Bianca and feel for her throughout the book. You will also fall in love with Lucas-He has a bad boy attitude but not in a way that makes you hate him. His character will through you for a loop so be prepared.

In conclusion, it is an amazing read. You must pick this book up! I You will be hooked from the prolouge on.

Thanks to Ms Gray for the copy! Check her site out at

Vacation-April 18-April 27

Ciao guys(in New Jersey "guys" applies to like everyone-a group-Hey, now you've learned smoe new dialect),

I will be on vacation from April 18-27. More than likely I will have some form of internet access during this time, but if I don't get back to you, please be patient. I will get back to everyone when I get back if not during my vacation.

In case anyone is wondering, this is what I am reading while I am on vacation. Check them all out.

Evernight by Claudia Gray-I am loving this :)
The Maid of the White Hands(Tristan and Isolde Book 2) by Rosalind Miles
The Lady of the Sea(Tristan and Isolde Book 3) by Rosalind Miles
Nobody's Princess by Esther Friesner

Evernight is a wonderful vampire book that I am in love with-It's going to be featured here around it's release. Nobody's Princess is about a young Helen of Troy and her adventures. And my 2 Tristan and Isolde books..............ahhhhhhh......This is my 7th time reading these books. They are a favorite of mine. They are NOT young adult-think more The Other Boleyn Girl. A little unkown fact about me-Tristan and Isolde is my favorite love story and this is my favorite adaptation, besides Morte D'Arthurs of course. Why you may ask? Well.....I usually don't do spoilers but either you know the story of Tristan and Isolde or you don't. Usually T+I has a and Juliet-esque ending to it. These books keep completely to the true storyline of Tristan And Isolde, never once changing things into something it isn't, BUT well........and they get a happy ending-YAY! I am a big fan of happy endings but usually my favorite stories don't have them(*cough* Anakin and Padme in Star Wars*Cough**cough* Cedric Diggory*cough*) and this does and it makes me happy. It also is wonderfully written. I don't reccomend it to those who aren't into Arthurian things-it has some old English and the series is very long. It also has a lot going on at once....but if you are into King Arthur and other things like this you must read these.

Anyway, Thanks for being understanding of me being on vacation- I appreciate it :)

Author New Release Program-Please pass this around :)

This stands for these 2 sites
General YA/Teen
Vampire YA/Teen Fiction-

alrighty, I'm offering this up because A) It seems like a cool idea and B) I think a lot of author's would be interested in it.

Here's how it goes. The Author Package is designed so that you can get some free publicity surrounding your books release. Here's how it will work,

This is what it would consist of:
A Review of your book released about 2 weeks or so before release-your choice
A Layout based on your book on my blog for the week before and after the release
An Interview posted the day of the release or around that time-your choice :)
Book name added to archive of Books participated in the Program(obviously not out yet)

The only requirement I have is that you provide an advanced copy of it for me to review (I can't review something if I can't buy it somewhere :)) and(if possible, as it's just a small tradition of mine) that you sign the inside of book for me. I'm an autograph junky and I love signed stuff- so It is greatly appreciated. It's not going to end up on eBay-rest assured-no one touches my signed books.

I do get a lot of viewers and I feel this is a great way of publicity for a book-you are hitting a target audience that will go out an buy your book.

So please even if you don't have an upcoming release, please pass this around to your author friends. It's greatly appreciate as I would like to get this program up and on it's feet. I know so many books could benefit from this.

You can email me at if you are interested

NEW LAYOUT!....temporarily

As you have probably noticed, We've got a new layout! So yeah, I went all poser-ish and did the Twilight thing-This is a picture from the film(obviously). James(who is played be the wonderful Cam Gigandet and can be seen in the mirror) is holding Edward(The adorable and wonderfully cast Cedr.. I mean, Robert Pattinson) toward the mirror. This is obviously the final battle between James, Edward, Carlisle, Jasper, and Emmett.

but it is only temporary-why?

Because from now on, I will be changing the layout often-Why you ask?

Because I like to suck up to authors and such.............just kidding

but not really

All joking aside- A layout devoted to somebody's book is wonderful promotion, as it is on everypage.

All authors have to do is drop me an email at with the name of the book and I'll do the rest. The layout will be up- at minimum- of 10 days, but probably longer. This is geared toward those who want to advertise their book like the week before and during it's release. I will be more than willing to extend the 10 days if you'd like.

My Twilight video

Okay, as many of you know I am a video maker so this is my 1st Twilight video! The song is paralyzer by Finger Eleven. These are what I used
MTV Video
Entertainment Tonight Video
Associated Press Video
Summit Official Photos

It's just a compilation of all things Twilight that are official...................oh and by the way-NEW LAYOUT COMING! Yeah-you heard it right! I'm starting a series of layouts based upon different, to start off, well.....I'll make you all wait

Anyway, here's my vid-click the video to go to it's Youtube counterpart

Review:Midnight Alley by Rachel Caine

Review of Midnight Alley by Rachel Caine
Note:Not Edited

This series continues to get better and better, in my opinion. A big secret is revealed in this novel, that makes the whole series make a lot more sense. If you guys remember from my reviews of the last 2 books, I often said that I didn't get why characters where doing such things-well now I know why. I also finally found myself a favorite character who I am in love with, his name is Myrnin(I think that is how it's spelled-I don't have the book in front of me) He is a super-genius vampire and is of great importance(I don't want to ruin the big secret/revelation/ect. for anyone-so I won't say why:)) He is also Claire's new instructor. His character is truly and interesting one and I really felt for him. I'm glad(I think) he is going to be in the next book Feast Of Fools, which is due out in June( I believe) This book also once again has Eve, Michael and Shane in it-3 great characters who help move the plot along nicely. Ms. Caine is a wonderful writer who I feel does a wonderful job. Sometimes I feel that some YA/Teen writers writer "down" at their audience which Ms. Caine does not do. She creates great visuals. And.........letting my filmmaker side out right now which I try not to let happen ......she has WONDERFUL dialog. There is nothing more annoying to me than a great storyline with crappy dialog.

Anyway, A wonderful read and I would recommend this series to anyone. I am pretty sure I won't be reading Feast of Fools in advance but I know I will be picking it up in June!

The Top Vampires Series.....EVER. PERIOD!

So yeah, you read it right. I am not going to put these in order cause it would be too hard for me to choose one as my favorite. I love all of my vampire sagas equally :) Anyway- you will see them listed with an explanation. For those of you who know the favorite character=dies or turns evil, you will get the My-not- favorite character.

The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer- yeah, mine as well get it done and over with. Forget the crazy 11 year old teenyboppers that go*OMG I LUV YOU EDWARD!!1111"-The series has heart-it has a believable main character and some amazing supporting charcters each with their own story make Twilight an amazing ride-begining to end
Not Favorite character-Carlisle Cullen
Character Hated with a burning passion-Jacob Black

The House of Night series by PC Cast and Kristin Cast- this series a friend actually read before me and said was very good. Now I usually don't got for the whole Academy of Vampires thing but......I did enjoy these books and look forward to the next one. The last one really stepped the game up
Not Favorite character- Erik or Damien*so adorable*
Character Hated with a burning passion-Loren..................

The Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead-If I where to list series that surprised me them most this would come in number 2(next post is #1) These books are very well written and have a very amazing storyline to them. The sequel in my opinion ia better than the 1st.
Not Favorite Character-Dimitri
Character hated with a burning passion-......Rose's mom or Lissa when she's crazy

The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod by Heather Brewer- This series, seriously, surprised me like Woah surprised me. I had not heard of it before I walked into Barnes and Nobles and saw it on the shelf. I bought it and read it in 1 day and I love it. I think out of all of the series on this list, it has the possibility of going places. It is heartwarming and makes you want to cry and sympathise with the main character-Vlad-who is an awesome teen vampire-really......he's awesome.
Not Favorite Character-Otis
Character hated with a burning passion-no one really, except Aunt Nelly sometimes

Honorable mention:
The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine

Possible future top series:
Evernight Series by Claudia Gray
This potential vamp series seems very promising. I love the premise and hope you all check it out. I haven't gotten to read it yet :( but I hope I do soon. I get so excited when I here about completely new series being released-its like very exciting for me as a reader to see that that Teen Vamp industry is alive and well. this series has the potential to be great-from what I've heard it's amazing!

Review:The Coffin Club by Ellen Schreiber

Review of The Coffin Club by Ellen Schreiber(on sale 6-24-08)

In "The Coffin Club", which is the 5th installment of the Vampire Kisses series, Raven finds herself in 2 familiar situations. Her vampire boyfriend, Alexander Sterling-has once again disappeared and she finds herself amist the vampire night club the Coffin Club. She soon discovers secrets about the club-which lead her whirlwind adventure.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I mean, I like the series-but ever since the 2nd book I felt the series has been somewhat dull. The Coffin Club, however, is the darkest and most entertaining story since the original Vampire Kisses. We are introduced to a few new characters all of which that are interesting.

And best of all, the ending is adorable. I was not satified with the ending of the last book"Dance with a Vampire"- it has a horrible cliffhanger and really left you not wanting more, but going "Wait, What?" The Coffin Club however, ends on a positive note and, while it is somewhat of a cliffhanger, it leave s you satified and thirsting for more Vampire Kisses

All in all, A pleasant, quick teen vampire read. It gives a nice twist to your typical vampire cliche's

Miss Shreiber is working on Vampire Kisses 6:Royal Blood. Also, the 2nd installment of the Vampire Kisses:Bloodlines(a manga) is due out in late September

Vampire Kisses 5: The Coffin Club is on-sae June 24, 2008

#1- New Mention from Ms. Catherine Murdock(who is a VERY nice lady, I have chatted with her in the past)-It's a quote that I said about her book Princess Ben- which I recommed- it is worth every bit of it's $16 hardcover price

#2-guess what I'm reading, not Breaking Dawn. The Coffin Club aka Vampire Kisses 5. My review will be up tommorow-it is surprisingly good.

The Coffin Club will be released on June 24

Review:Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Review of Frostbite(Vampire Academy Series) by Richelle Mead
note: Unedited

Now, many of you have read my review of this books predeccesor, Vampire Academy-which I enjoyed tremendously. In a world where many Vampire books start sounding the same-Vampire Academy was a diamond-with great original characters. It's sequel. Frostbite, is no different. Once again we follow Rose(or as the delicious Dimitri calls her Roza) as she learns to deal with life. She is a dhampir or 1/2 human/1/2 Vampire and is training to be the guardian of her Royal Moroi(the good vampires) best friend, Lissa. She also has a friend Mason-who is crushing on her, a teacher/instructor(the wonderful Dimitri) who seems to be crushing on Lissa's boyfriend's(Christian) Aunt-WOW,ain't that confusing!

These books are wonderfully written and I am glad to have gotten to read it before all of you. No.....I talk to anyone awesome or do anything amazing to get this copy. I just bought it at my local Barnes and Nobles, who happened to put it out early. I really love this series because well, it kicks ass-no exaggeration. Great vampire "lore", great characters, great plot, great descriptions, great visuals. oh............and this one will make you cry. One of my favorite vampire series out there-but that's my next blog

Notes on a Scandal.....not really

So, this is kinda a Jess update. First, I got Frostbite by Richelle Mead today! No, It isn't an advanced's from Barnes and Nobles who placed it out early :) I have like 50 pages left in Vampire Beach:Initiation but I am going to go against my usual rules of finishing a book 1st before I start another but.........I really want to read this!

Second, I found out I will be reading Vampire Kisses 5 for HarperTeen!

Third, for you Twilight fans out there. I got my letter back from the very nice Ashley Greene who places Alice Cullen

Forth, I will be on vacaction from April 18-27. Now, on the plus side it will give me time to catch up on my reading-WHICH IS IN OVERLOAD!!!!!! I seriously have 8/9 books to read. On the negative-I might not have internet access, or limited access so I might now be able to get back to you quickly.
